Pepsi & Shirlie are an English pop duo formed in London in 1985, consisting of Helen "Pepsi" DeMacque and Shirlie Holliman. Born on December 10, 1958, in Paddington, London, and April 18, 1962, in Watford, Hertfordshire respectively, both women initially served as backing vocalists for the popular band Wham!. In 1987, they released their debut single "Heartache", produced by Phil Fearon and Tambi Fernando. The song reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart and peaked at number 2 on the American dance charts. Despite featuring a credit for Stock Aitken Waterman on many pressings of the single, all additional production work was done by Pete Hammond on behalf of Pete Waterman. The follow-up single "Goodbye Stranger" reached  number 9 in the UK. Their debut album All Right Now later that year did not achieve significant commercial success. Pepsi & Shirlie's second studio album Change, released in 1991, featured their comeback single "Someday", produced by George Michael. Although neither the album nor the single attracted much attention, Holliman recalled Michael writing the song during the recording session after she requested his help for their comeback. In 2000, they provided backing vocals on Geri Halliwell's UK Number 1 hit "Bag It Up". The duo also reunited for the Here & Now 10th Anniversary Tour starting in June 2011. Their memoir It’s All in Black and White was published by Welbeck in September 2021.
