Hazell Dean, born Hazell Poole on October 27, 1952, in Great Baddow, Essex, England, is a singer known for her contributions to pop and dance music. She began her career in the mid-1970s, initially releasing pop/soul singles under Decca Records. Hazell Dean's breakthrough came in the 1980s when she transitioned to hi-NRG dance music. In June 1984, "Searchin' (I Gotta Find a Man)" (1983) became her first Top 10 hit in the UK, peaking at number 6. This success was followed by other notable singles such as "Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go)" (1984), which reached number 4 on the UK charts. Her album Heart First was released later that year, though it did not chart well. She signed with EMI Records in 1985 and released several singles, including "They Say It's Gonna Rain" (1985), "Always (Doesn't Mean Forever)" (1987), and "Who's Leaving Who", which peaked at number 4 in 1988. In the 1990s, Hazell Dean worked with various producers and artists, contributing to projects like Bad Boys Inc and Miquel Brown. She continued releasing albums and singles over the following decades, including covers of ABBA songs on The Winner Takes It All (1996), In The Name Of ... (2013), Nightlife (2015), and 8 (2022).
