Vice Verset, a Canadian bilingual French/English hip hop duo, was established in 1997 and consisted of rapper David Dubé, also known as Da Vincy, and Striger Laurent. The band participated in various competitions early in their career, including Rap City '97, where they finished third overall. They were named the best French rap group for the year in Quebec and performed at notable events such as Rockon 1998 dance competition and Les FrancoFolies de Montréal in 2005. Vice Verset released their debut album Vice City in 2006, under HLM Records. The album featured collaborations with artists like Billy Nova, Sir Pathétik, Kaylah, Lukay, Supa Lexx, Loedie, Sneaky Tone, Slim Sexy, and others. Notable singles from the album included "Faut qu'on s'évade" featuring Supa Lexx. Vice Verset also participated in a UNESCO charity event alongside prominent French artists like IAM, LaCliqua, and Oxmo Puccino.
