Fraunhofer Saitenmusik was a string instrument ensemble and Bavarian music group formed in Munich in August 1978 by Richard Kurländer and Heidi Zink. They began as an instrumental ensemble playing traditional Bavarian-Alemannic folk music, incorporating elements from various genres. Fraunhofer Saitenmusik gained recognition for their unique blend of traditional and modern music, performing at various festivals and concerts across the German-speaking region. In 1999, they received the Bavarian Poet's Thaler award for their contributions to Bavarian culture. The group also collaborated with Danish folk musicians Harald Haugaard and Morten Alfred Hoirup as Saitentreff. Heidi Zink passed away in June 2013, and Richard Kurländer in May 2024.
