Hamburger Alsterspatzen, a children's and youth choir based in Hamburg, Germany, was founded in 1975 by Jürgen Luhn as the Norddeutscher Kinderchor Hamburg. Initially serving as the second choral director at the Hamburg State Opera, Luhn renamed the group to Hamburger Alsterspatzen in 1981 following their first record release for Ariola. The choir gained international recognition in the early 1990s by winning four consecutive music competitions and through television appearances. They have released over a hundred recordings and participated in various opera performances, including roles in Hänsel und Gretel, Tosca, and Carmen. In 2019, the choir became officially affiliated with the Hamburg State Opera under the direction of Luiz de Godoy. Notable alumni include Christina Scheppelmann, Malte Neumann, Mojca Erdmann, Lucius Wolter, and Nadine Sieben.
