Nina & Mike were formed in Germany in 1966 as a pop duo. The group consists of Michaela "Nina" Hennemann, born on June 19, 1945 in Halle (Saale), and Lothar "Mike" Schähfer, born on January 14, 1944 in Mannheim. The two meet in 1963. Mike plays guitar in a band. Nina joins as a singer. Shortly afterwards, they marry and start a family. From 1966, they initially perform under the name Joe & Jenny. Releases as Michaela & Lothar followed in 1969. In 1970, the first single "Lola" was released under the name Nina & Mike. The duo moved into the pop genre. In 1972, "Was wird sein in sieben Jahren" (What will be in seven years) attracts initial attention. In 1973, "Rund um die Welt geht das Lied der Liebe" made it into the German charts. In the same year, the biggest success followed with "Fahrende Musikanten". The song reached number 5 and remained in the charts for 25 weeks. 1975 saw the release of "Paloma Blanca", which reached number 6 and is one of the best-known songs. The albums include Rund um die Welt mit Nina & Mike (1974), Paloma Blanca (1975) and El Paradiso (1976). Later releases include Unser Lied (1982), Amore Mio (1989) and Bis wir uns wiedersehen (2000). In total, they released more than ten albums and over 60 singles. In 1974, Nina & Mike were awarded the Goldene Europa by Saarländischer Rundfunk. In 1976, they took part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest and reached 4th place. In the same year, they divorced, but continued to work together. In 1979, they run a discotheque in Ludwigshafen. Further productions with changing producers followed from the 1990s onwards. Michaela Hennemann dies on April 7, 2005 in Wilhelmshaven. Lothar Schähfer dies on July 16, 2015 in Mannheim.
