Ryan Star, born Ryan Stahr Kulchinsky on January 7, 1978, in Huntington, New York, is an American rock singer-songwriter from Long Island. He formed his first band, Stage, at 14 and later transitioned to a solo career under the name R.Star, releasing his independently produced debut album Songs From The Eye Of An Elephant in 2005. Ryan Star gained wider recognition as a contestant on the CBS reality TV show Rock Star: Supernova in 2006. He signed with Atlantic Records and released his first major label EP Last Train Home in 2009. His debut studio album 11:59, released in 2010, peaked at number 31 on the Billboard 200 and number 10 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart. Notable songs include "Breathe" and "Stay Awhile," the latter of which reached number 28 on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart.
