Ludwig Doerr, born on July 12, 1925, in Speyer, Germany, was an organist and music educator. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Köln and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, earning an A-Examen for Kirchenmusik and a Konzertreifeprüfung for Orgel. Doerr won the Bach-Preis at the international Bach-Wettbewerb in Leipzig in 1950. He served as Domorganist in Speyer from 1952 to 1971, teaching at various institutions including the Bischöfliches Kirchenmusikalisches Institut Speyer and the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Saarbrücken. From 1971 until his retirement in 1990, Doerr held a professorship for Orgel at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau, where he also served as Domorganist at the Freiburger Münster. He presented Johann Sebastian Bach's complete organ works over 16 evenings in 1985 and received the Oberrheinische Kulturpreis in 1993. Doerr passed away on June 30, 2015, in Freiburg im Breisgau.
