Blackbud was formed in December 2002 in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, by guitarist and vocalist Joe Taylor, bassist Adam Newton, and drummer Sam Nadel. The trio began as a covers band at St Laurence School before writing original material. Their first release, the Livewire EP in 2005, marked their entry into the independent music scene, after which they signed to Independiente Records following a win at the 2004 Glastonbury Unsigned Bands competition. In July 2006 the band issued their debut studio album From the Sky, supported by singles “Barefoot Dancing” and “Forever” and a tour that earned praise from BBC presenters and rock icons. The track “Barefoot Dancing” was later included on the soundtrack for The Skeleton Key. In June 2009 they released their self‑titled album Blackbud, preceded by the digital single “You Can Run”. After a 2009 tour, Blackbud entered an indefinite hiatus in January 2010, with members pursuing separate projects.
