Tina York, born Monika Schwab on April 29, 1954, in Bingen, Germany, is a German pop singer. After working as a paralegal, she recorded her first single under the stage name Monia at age 14 in 1969. Her breakthrough came in 1970 when Rudi Wolpert discovered her and she released "Oh Mama Good Bye" under the name Tina York. She signed with CBS Records from 1970 to 1976, collaborating with producers like Peter Orloff and Jack White. York appeared on numerous television music programs, including ZDF-Hitparade, where she won first place in 1974 with "Wir lassen uns das Singen nicht verbieten". She also placed in the top three with songs like "Wo die Sonne scheint" (1974) and "Ein Adler kann nicht fliegen" (1977). In 1976, York participated in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest with "Das alte Haus", finishing last. Her notable albums include Wir lassen uns das Singen nicht verbieten (1975), Ich bring' dir heut' ein Ständchen (1977), and Mein Weg zu dir (1978). After a 29-year hiatus, she released the album Ich träume mit dir in 2007. In 2018, York participated in the twelfth season of the RTL show I bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!, finishing third.
