Kenneth L. Farquharson, known professionally as Ken Parker, was born on February 23, 1948, in Darliston, Westmoreland Parish, Colony of Jamaica. He began singing in church and formed the group Blues Benders in the mid-1960s. Parker's solo career started after auditioning alone for Coxsone Dodd. At Studio One, he recorded singles like "Choking Kind" and "My Whole World is Falling Down". His debut album, Keep Your Eyes on Jesus, was released in 1972. Collaborations with Duke Reid yielded hits such as "Jimmy Brown" and "Kiss an Angel Good Morning". Parker's popularity grew, leading to recordings with producers like Bunny Lee and Joe Gibbs. He relocated to England after a stint in New York City, returning to recording in the early 1980s with his own label. In April 2014, Parker performed at the International Ska and Reggae Festival in London. He passed away on February 22, 2025.
