Klára Würtz is a Hungarian pianist who was born in 1965 in Budapest. She began piano lessons at age 5 and was a member of the Hungarian Radio Children's Choir between the ages of 6 and 14. In 1979, she entered the gifted children's faculty of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. Würtz won the Ettore Pozzoli Piano Competition in 1985 and received the Schubert Prize at the Dublin International Piano Competition in 1988. This led to a contract with Columbia Artists Management and an extensive tour of North America in 1991. Würtz co-founded the Amsterdam Piano Trio in 1990. She performed at Carnegie Hall and Boston Symphony Hall in 2003 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Bernard Haitink. Her recordings include the complete Mozart piano sonatas (1998) and the albums Schubert: Impromptus (2011) and Schubert: Piano Sonata in B flat D960. Piano Sonata in A D 664 (2014). She is a professor at the Utrecht Conservatory.
