Christopher Bowers-Broadbent is an English organist and composer. He was a boy chorister at King’s College, Cambridge under Boris Ord and briefly David Willcocks, where he also played violin and piano. He studied organ and composition at Berkhamsted School and later at the Royal Academy of Music, where his principal teachers were Arnold Richardson and Richard Rodney Bennett. He made his debut at the Camden Festival in 1966, with later major appearances including the St Albans International Organ Festival in 1969, the Royal Festival Hall in 1971, and his first Proms appearance in 1972. His career includes extensive collaboration with Paul Hillier’s Theatre of Voices and recordings associated with ECM and Arvo Pärt, as well as work with the Hilliard Ensemble. He has held positions including organist at West London Synagogue and Director of Music. He also taught organ at the Royal Academy of Music from 1973 to 1992.
