Heather Anne Turney Schmidt, born in 1974 in Calgary, Alberta, is a Canadian-American composer, pianist, and filmmaker. She received her early training at the Juilliard School, where she studied piano and composition, followed by further education at Indiana University Bloomington, earning a doctorate in music at the age of 21. Schmidt's career as a film composer began in 2008 with Synchronicity, a television film. Her classical music contributions include the album F. Mendelssohn-Hensel: Piano Music - Piano Sonatas, Lied & Sonata or Capriccio, released in 2010. She has since composed music for various projects, including the computer game Homesick (2015) and films such as Elvis lebt! – Nicht tot, nur Undercover (2016), Jurassic School (2017), and Empire of the Sharks (2017). Schmidt also directed and produced the television series People and Pups in 2017.
