Umberto Napolitano is an Italian singer-songwriter and composer born on May 25, 1947, in Brescia. He began his career performing at the Nebbia Club in Milan. Napolitano entered the music industry as a composer and released the pacifist recording “Mille chitarre contro la guerra” for Carmen Villani in 1966. Performing under the mononym Umberto, he released the song “Gioventù”, which appeared at the Un disco per l'estate festival and served as the theme for the television program Chissà chi lo sa?. During the 1970s, he performed a pop repertoire and participated in several editions of the Sanremo Music Festival. His discography included the studio recordings Giro di "do" (1977), Umberto Napolitano (1979), and Un'estate d'amore (1998). Artists including Loredana Bertè, Rita Pavone, and Ricchi e Poveri recorded his compositions. Napolitano also worked as a comics writer.
