Gerd Baumann, born in 1967 in Forchheim, Germany, is a German composer and guitarist. He trained at the Münchner Gitarreninstitut and collaborated with Konstantin Wecker starting in 1997, serving as producer and guitarist. In 2005, he was nominated for the German Film Award for Aus der Tiefe des Raumes. Baumann won the German Film Award in 2007 for his work on "Wer früher stirbt ist länger tot" (2006), where he also acted. He founded Millaphon Records in 2011 and has composed numerous film scores, including Schwere Jungs (2006) and Almanya – Willkommen in Deutschland (2011). Since the academic year 2013/14, Baumann has been a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.
