Gustavo Leguizamón, also known as “El Cuchi,” was an Argentine musician, pianist, composer, writer, and also a lawyer and public official. He came from a prominent merchant family in Salta and developed a career in both law and politics alongside his musical work, serving as a prosecutor in the province and as a member of the national parliament. Leguizamón is especially known for his long and fruitful collaboration with poet Manuel J. Castilla, with whom he created many of his most celebrated works. His compositions include classics such as “Lloraré,” “La Pomeña,” and “Zamba del Carnaval." Throughout his career, he received numerous distinctions, including the Gran Premio SADAIC in 1973 for Música nativa and first prizes at festivals such as the Festival Latinoamericano de Salta (1965). He died on September 27, 2000.
