Stéphane Picq (born Stéphane Francis Picq) was a French electronic and video game music composer from Rouen, born on August 16, 1965. Picq began his career in 1987, composing for ERE Informatique/Exxos and later Cryo Interactive. In 1992, he released the album Dune: Spice Opera, the soundtrack for the video game Dune, which utilized a combination of technoid and organic sounds. Picq composed for video games including Extase (1990), Lost Eden (1995), and Riverworld (1998). He collaborated with Pierre Estève on the score for Atlantis: Secrets d'un Monde Oublié (1997). In 1998, Picq relocated to Madagascar, where he established a recording studio in 2006. In 2015, he joined the MegaRace Reboot team. He re-released Dune: Spice Opera in 2023 and published remasters on Bandcamp in 2024. Picq died of cancer in Ramena, Madagascar, on February 2, 2025.
