Alberto Marsicano, born on January 31, 1952, in Brazil, was a musician, writer, and professor. He is recognized as one of the people who introduced the Indian sitar to Brazilian audiences. Marsicano has collaborated with musicians such as Ivan Vilela, Lula CĂ´rtes, and Arnaldo Antunes. He studied with Ravi Shankar in London and Krishna Chakavarty at the University of Benares. His debut album, Impressionismos, was released in 1995. Subsequent releases included Raga Do Cerrado (2001), Quintissencia (2002), Eter (Edson X-Mix) (2003), and Electric Sitar (2003). He passed away on August 18, 2013.
