The Victoria Police Pipe Band was established in 1936 by a group of police officers in Melbourne, Australia. The band's formation was supported by Chief Commissioner Blamey and funded by Mr W.E. McPherson. In its early years, the band dominated Australian competitions, claiming six consecutive grade one titles locally while also competing internationally. Notable recordings include Uphold the Right (1991) and Live in Concert in Ireland (1993). The band achieved significant milestones with third-place finishes at the World Pipe Band Championships in 1992, 1994, and 1997. After adjustments by Drum Sergeant Harold Gillespie and Pipe Major Nat Russell, Victoria Police Pipe Band was crowned World Champions at Glasgow in 1998. Following a decision in 2000 to reshape the band, it ceased competing but continued performing at official functions, charities, and schools.
