Mattia Cigalini, born on June 9, 1989, in Italy, is a saxophonist and composer known for his contributions to jazz. He began performing at age twelve and received classical training at the Giuseppe Nicolini Music School in Piacenza. His early career included working with Guido Manusardi and releasing his debut album 3 for E in 2008.Cigalini's breakthrough came with his 2009 album Arriving Soon, released on Pony Canyon and Dejavu Records, which was recognized as the best of the year by Swing Journal. In 2011, he followed up with Res Nova under EMI, presented at Umbria Jazz. He has collaborated with notable musicians such as Tom Harrell, Uri Caine, Randy Brecker, Stefano Bollani, Andrea Pozza, and Paolo Fresu. His achievements include winning the Premio Nazionale Luciano Zorzella for best young talent in 2008 and the Premio Internazionale Massimo Urbani.
