André le Roux du Toit, known professionally as Koos Kombuis, and born on November 5, 1954, in Cape Town, South Africa, is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who primarily sang and wrote in Afrikaans. Du Toit's musical career began with the release of his debut album Ver van die ou Kalahari in 1987 on Shifty Records. This marked the start of his involvement with alternative Afrikaans music, a genre that gained prominence through the Voëlvry tour. Kombuis also joined Johannes Kerkorrel en die Gereformeerde Blues Band, contributing to their album Eet Kreef! (1989). Subsequent albums include Niemandsland (1989), Madiba Bay (1997), dedicated to Nelson Mandela, and Bloedrivier (2008).
