Piet Botha, born on July 18, 1955, was a South African rock musician. He began his career as the frontman of Jack Hammer, opening for acts like ZZ Top and Deep Purple. In 1985, Piet Botha moved to the US but returned to South Africa the following year. His solo career included notable albums such as ’n Suitcase vol winter (1997), Jan Skopgraaf (1999), and Spookpsalms (2011). In 2019, a documentary about his life was released. Botha passed away on June 2, 2019, at the age of 63 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
