Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer, a Quebec traditional music group, was formed in 1994 by five experienced singers: Michel Faubert, Normand Miron, Jean-Claude Mirandette, Michel Bordeleau, and André Marchand. In 2006, their live album, En personne (2005), won the ADISQ award for Best Traditional Music Album of the Year. The group's repertoire expanded to include contemporary works with their 2010 release Nouvelles fréquentations, featuring covers of artists such as Neil Young and Daniel Lanois. This album earned them nominations at both the ADISQ and Canadian Folk Music Awards. In 2017, they released a compilation titled 25 ans de grande noirceur. The group faced significant changes with the passing of Jean-Claude Mirandette in April 2019 and Bernard Simard in 2020.
