Dieter Jürgen "Didi" Hallervorden (born 5 September 1935 in Dessau) is an actor, cabaret artist, singer, dubbing artist, presenter and theater director. He celebrated his greatest successes from the mid-1970s with the TV comedy series Nonstop Nonsens. In his more than 60-year career as an artist, he has starred in over 20 films and appeared in over 50 television productions. He has received many awards for his achievements as an actor and cabaret artist, including the German Comedy Award (2003), the Bavarian Cabaret Award (2005), the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin (2012) and the German Film Award (2014). Dieter Hallervorden has also been an honorary citizen of his native city of Dessau since 2006. At the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s, Dieter Hallervorden also enjoyed a small career as a singer. His songs were mostly amusing cover versions of well-known hits of the time. In 1978, together with Helga Feddersen, he scored a huge hit in Germany with the song "Du, die Wanne ist voll". The cover version of the hit "You're the One That I Want" (1978) by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John reached number 4 in Germany and number 12 in Austria. In 1981, he landed two top 20 hits in Germany with the singles "Punker Maria" and "Tierischer Tango (Mein Schatz, heut' hast du Schwein)". Dieter Hallervorden's brief episode as a singer ended in 1982 with another hit single, "Bauernball im Hühnerstall". In 2021, at the age of 80, Dieter Hallervorden returned to the charts once again. The album 80 plus contains a collection of rocking, bluesy songs and reaches number 44 in the German charts.
