Erich Mathias Mayer, known professionally as Hias, and born on November 3, 1950, in Johnsbach, Styria, Austria, was a singer and accordion player. He initially gained local fame through performances with various groups. His breakthrough came in 1981 when he appeared on Musikantenstadl with the Ligister Trio, performing "Übern Laurenziberg", which led to regular spots on the show until 1991, where he became known for his comedic antics and musical performances. He also participated in the Grand Prix der Volksmusik in 1990 with the song "Was macht a Papagei in an Solarium". Hias released several albums including Das Coolt Album (2002) and Über'n Laurenziberg (2003). He passed away on July 7, 2007, in Donnersbach, Styria.
