Steve Hauschildt, born on October 24, 1984, in Bay Village, Ohio, is an electronic musician known for his work as a solo artist and as a member of the band Emeralds. He began releasing solo material in the mid-2000s, with early albums including The Summit (2007) and Critique of the Beautiful (2009). While performing and recording with Emeralds, Hauschildt released his first widely distributed album, Tragedy & Geometry, in 2011 under Kranky Records. This album featured heavy use of the Prophet '08 synthesizer and was influenced by 1970s-era Kosmische musik. Following the disbandment of Emeralds in 2013, Hauschildt continued his solo career with notable releases such as Where All is Fled (2015), Strands (2016), and Dissolvi (2018). The latter notably featured collaborations with GABI and Julianna Barwick.
