Silly Wizard, a Scottish folk band, was formed in Edinburgh in 1970 by Gordon Jones and Bob Thomas. The group adopted the name Silly Wizard after adding Chris Pritchard and Johnny Cunningham. Silly Wizard began touring extensively, including multiple trips to France starting in April 1974. Their debut album, Silly Wizard, was released on the XTRA label in 1976. Subsequent albums included Caledonia’s Hardy Sons (1978) and So Many Partings (1979). The band's final performance took place in Voorheesville, New York, in April 1988. Silly Wizard was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame in December 2012.
