Tuija Hakkila, born Tuija Kaarina Hakkila-Helasvuo on January 16, 1959 in Hämeenlinna, is a Finnish pianist. She studied at the Sibelius Academy and later at the Conservatoire de Paris under Jacques Rouvier. Her early training led to versatile performances as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist. Hakkila has released several notable albums, including Works By Debussy, Enescu, Janácek And Kodály in 1990 and Ravel: Miroirs - Dutilleux: Trois Preludes - Kaipainen: Conte - Lindberg: Twine - Salonen: Yta II in 1991. She became particularly recognized for her comprehensive recordings of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's complete fortepiano sonatas, released between 2005 and 2006. Hakkila has performed extensively internationally, touring in the United States, France, Japan, Indonesia, Africa, and South America. In addition to her performing career, she has been a dedicated educator, becoming appointed as a professor at the Sibelius Academy in 2014.
