Ernst Kovacic, born 12 April 1943 in Kapfenberg, Styria, Austria, is an Austrian violinist and conductor. He studied violin, piano, and organ at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. His breakthrough came in 1971 when he won first prize in the violin section of the Maria Canals International Music Competition, followed by third prize at the ARD International Music Competition in 1972. He taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in 1975. He played a 1753 Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin and performed new works by Ernst Krenek, Friedrich Cerha, and Beat Furrer. In 2022, he was a member of the jury of the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition.
