The Consort of Musicke, a British early-music group, was founded in 1969 by Anthony Rooley. The ensemble was renowned for its interpretations of madrigals and lute songs by English composers, as well as recordings of Italian composer Claudio Monteverdi. Notable collaborators include soprano Emma Kirkby, Evelyn Tubb, Paul Agnew, Andrew King, Joseph Cornwell, Simon Grant, and Mary Nichols. Their discography spanned several decades, with notable albums such as Monteverdi: Fourth and Fifth Books of Madrigals (1997), Dowland: Earth, Water, Air and Fire - A New Look at John Dowland and Friends (2012), and Morley: Ayres and Madrigals (2014).
