Dave Burland, born on July 12, 1941, in Barnsley, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, is an English folk singer and guitarist. He began performing in English folk clubs in 1968 after a career as a policeman. His debut album A Dalesman’s Litany was released in 1971. Burland joined the folk group Hedgehog Pie in 1976, which disbanded in 1978 and reformed in 2010 with Mick Doonan and Jed Grimes. Notable albums include Dave Burland (1972), Songs & Buttered Haycocks (1975), You Can’t Fool the Fat Man (1979), and Willin’ (1989). He also provided additional vocals on "Wild Goose" from Kate Rusby's 1999 album Sleepless. Burland has also notably collaborated with Tony Capstick and Dick Gaughan for Songs of Ewan MacColl (1978) and Hedgehog Pie for Just Act Normal (1978).
