Ewan McLennan (born July 31, 1986, in London) is a Scottish folk musician and singer-songwriter. Raised in Edinburgh, McLennan studied classical piano before transitioning to the guitar and developing an interest in folk and roots music. In 2010, he began performing in folk clubs and signed with Fellside Records. His debut album, Rags & Robes (2010), established his reputation and earned him the 2011 Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. McLennan released his second album, The Last Bird to Sing, in 2012, which won two Spiral Earth Awards and the Alistair Hulett Memorial Prize for Political Songwriting. In 2013, he participated in the BBC’s Transatlantic Sessions. McLennan followed this with the 2014 album Stories Still Untold. In 2016, he collaborated with author George Monbiot on the album Breaking the Spell of Loneliness, a project addressing social isolation.
