Houria Aïchi, born 1956 in Batna, Algeria, is an Algerian singer associated with Chaoui music from the Aurès region. She began performing on stage in 1985, often accompanied by traditional instruments such as the bendir. She released her debut album Chants de l’Aurès in 1990, followed by Hawa in 1996. In 2007, she released Khalwa: Chants sacrés d’Algérie, a collaboration with Henri Agnel focused on sacred songs from Algeria. Aïchi has performed regularly in France since the 1990s and has appeared at world music festivals in Europe, including editions of Au fil des voix. She can also be heard on the soundtrack of Bernardo Bertolucci's film, The Sheltering Sky (1990).
