South Korean singer Kim Bum Soo (born on January 26, 1979, in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea), initially felt like an outsider after his family relocated to Seoul, earning recognition for his vocal abilities after singing in a church choir, which lead to the pursuit of a music education at Soongsil University and the Seoul Institute of the Arts. In 1999, Kim embarked on his music career with the release of his debut album, A Promise, which achieved only a modicum of success, however his career gained traction with the release of his second album, Remember which charted in the top 30. Notably, the English version of album single, "Once Upon a Day," (renamed "Hello Goodbye Hello”) made waves internationally, reaching number 51 on the Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart in the U.S, however, it was the success of his album I Miss You, that gained him widespread recognition after its title track featured in the hit drama Stairway to Heaven. Continuing to release high-charting albums, including The 4th Episode in 2004, and Kim Bum Soo Vol. 6 in 2008, which reached the ninth spot on the charts, Kim unveiled Solista Part. 1 and Solista Part. 2, between 2010 and 2011, with the latter spawning the hit single "Different (달라)" (featuring Taeyeon) which skyrocketed to number 2. Collaborating with Lena Park on top 10 singles "Person, Love (사람, 사랑)" (2011) and "White Winter" (하얀 겨울) (2012), Kim dropped a string of non-album singles before returning with Him in November 2014, featuring the lead single "Home Meal (집 밥)" with Geeks and Mrs. Kim, which placed at number 17. In April 2018, he released a remake of Shin Hyo-beom's 1996 song "I Love You (난 널 사랑해)" for his single album re.MAKE20 #1 following by "Shattered" (와르르) in 2019. He made a triumphant return in February 2024 with Journey, which peaked at number 32.
