Ludwig Sebus, born September 5, 1925, in Cologne, Germany, is a German singer, composer, and lyricist known for his contributions to Schlager, folk music, and the Cologne Carnival. Growing up as the son of a gilder in Cologne, Sebus began a musical journey by joining the Altermarktspielkreis in 1950. Sebus then prepared for stage performances with the literary committee of the Festkomitee Kölner Karneval. A breakthrough came during the 1954/1955 session with the hit song "Jede Stein en Kölle eß e Stöck vun deer" (1955). Throughout a long career, Sebus released several albums and notable songs including "Kölle bei Naach" (1955), "Et Zebingemännche" (1956), and "Prinz, Bauer, Jungfrau" (1971). Sebus performed with other interpreters of the Cologne Carnival under the name Melodienreigen. Sebus received numerous awards including the Willi-Ostermann-Medaille in 1968 and the Goldene Römer in 1995. A planned Ludwig-Sebus-Brunnen fountain in Cologne-Deutz was announced as a present to celebrate his 95th birthday.
