Little Sammy Davis, born Sammy Davis on November 28, 1928, in Winona, Mississippi, was an American blues musician who learned to play the harmonica at age eight. He began his music career in the 1940s, traveling with medicine shows and playing with notable musicians. After settling in Poughkeepsie, New York, he recorded a session for Trix Records in 1971. Following his wife's death in the early 1970s, he stopped playing music for two decades. In 1990, Davis was rediscovered and began performing again, eventually becoming the house band for Don Imus's radio program Imus in the Morning. His comeback culminated with the release of his first full-length album, I Ain't Lyin', in 1995 on Delmark Records. The album earned him a Comeback Artist of the Year Award from Living Blues magazine and was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award. Davis passed away on February 16, 2018.
