Julio Lacarra, born July 10, 1947, in Capitán Sarmiento, Argentina, is a singer-songwriter of folk and popular music. He started his solo career in 1967, releasing "Cante, señor" in 1968 and debuting at the Festival de Folclore de Cosquín that same year. Lacarra collaborated with Jorge Cafrune in Argentinísima (1969) and performed with Mercedes Sosa in Buenos Aires in 1970. His international career began in 1975 with the Festival Latinoamericano in Costa Rica, followed by a tour of Panama and representing Argentina at the Sochi 75 festival in Moscow. Notable albums include La canción de nuestros días (1983) and Para darte vida (1984). He won first prize, Waldo de los Ríos, at the Cantemos Argentina festival in 1980 with "Sueño de amanecido". Lacarra's extensive touring included performances across the United States and Latin America.
