Anthony Armstrong Jones, born Ronnie Jones on June 2, 1949, was an American country music singer. Before his music career, Jones was a professional golfer. His debut single, "Proud Mary" (1968), a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's hit, peaked at number 22 on the Billboard country singles charts and served as the title track for his first album, Proud Mary (1969). Jones recorded four albums for Chart Records, including Take A Letter Maria (1970) and Sugar in the Flowers (1970). He later moved to Epic Records and charted three singles in 1973, including a cover of Jim Croce's "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown". Jones also recorded for Homa Records in the 1970s but did not achieve significant chart success during this period. His last charting single was "Those Eyes" (1986). He died on June 16, 1996.
