Malcolm David Archer, born in 1952, is an English conductor, organist and composer. He began his musical education at King Edward VII School in Lytham before studying at the Royal College of Music and Jesus College, Cambridge. Archer's notable roles include serving as Organist and Director of Music at Wells Cathedral from 1996 to 2004, where he directed the choir for daily services. He later took on similar positions at St Paul's Cathedral from 2004 to 2007 and Winchester College from 2007 to 2018. During his tenure at St Paul's, he composed a special anthem for the service celebrating Elizabeth II’s 80th birthday. Archer has over 250 compositions published, with notable albums such as Requiem & Other Works (1994) and Sounds of Fotheringhay (2005).
