Leonid Gorokhov (born 11 February 1967) is a Russian-born British and German cellist. Born in Leningrad, he studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire under Anatoli Nikitin. In 1982, he won the First Prize at Concertino Praga, followed by the Premier Grand Prix at the Paris Chamber Music Competition. In 1986, he became the only Russian cellist to receive the Grand Prix and First Prize at the Geneva Concours. Based in London, Gorokhov has performed with the Bergen Philharmonic, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Hermitage String Trio and collaborates with pianists Nikolai Demidenko and Kathryn Stott. His discography features works by Boccherini and Shostakovich for labels like Melodiya and Supraphon.
