Mood Ruff was a Canadian hip-hop group formed in 1994 in Winnipeg. The founding members, Odario Williams and Spitz, met at Kelvin High School and began recording demos on a karaoke machine in Spitz's basement. Their first live performances took place in small clubs around Toronto. In 1997, Mood Ruff started their own record label, Slo-Coach Records. Their debut album, Night.Life.Types, was released in 1999, followed by Politic Different in 2000. Both albums received positive reviews. In 2005, Mood Ruff released their final album, I Do My Own Stunts, which included their first hit single "Rocketship". The song was named CBC Radio 3’s top Canadian track of 2005 and won a Western Canada Music Award for Best Rap Recording in 2006. Following the release of I Do My Own Stunts, Mood Ruff disbanded.
