Jacobus Johannes du Plessis, known as Koos du Plessis, is a South African musician and poet. He began his career as a journalist before gaining recognition as a singer-songwriter. His breakthrough came with "Kinders Van Die Wind," which became the theme for the television series Phoenix en Kie and was performed by Laurika Rauch. Du Plessis released his debut album, Skadu's Teen Die Muur, in 1979, featuring notable tracks such as "As Jy My Kon Volg ..." and "Herman," and his work went on to significantly influence Afrikaans music, with many of his compositions widely covered by other artists. He died on January 15, 1984. Posthumously, his work gained recognition through various tribute releases and publications.
