Zohra Aïssaoui, known as Dihya, was born in 1950 in Taghit, Algeria. She moved to France at age eight and began singing and playing guitar secretly. In the 1970s, she won several radio singing contests and studied Bel Canto in Italy. Her first single "Badala Zamana" was released in 1977. Zohra signed with Polydor Records but later sued them for unpaid royalties. In 1980, her debut album Yuguerten (Jugurtha) was recorded in Algeria. After marrying Messaoud Nedjahi and facing threats during the Berber Spring, she returned to France. Her subsequent albums include Usin-d usin-d! (1982), Setta Frank (1988), and Dzaïr Essa (2005). In 2014, she was honored at the Festival du Théâtre Amazigh in Batna.
