The Fartz was an American hardcore punk band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1981. The original lineup included vocalist Blaine Cook, guitarist Tommy Hansen, bassist Steve Hofmann, and drummer Loud Fart. They released their debut EP, Because This Fucking World Stinks, in 1981, which led to a signing with Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records. They contributed the song "Campaign Speech" to the 1981 compilation album Seattle Syndrome Volume One. Their first full-length album, World Full of Hate, was released in 1982. The band disbanded in 1983 after evolving into a new project called 10 Minute Warning. In 1990, interest in The Fartz revived with the release of the EP You, We See You Crawling, and in 1998, Alternative Tentacles issued a retrospective anthology entitled Because This Fuckin' World Still Stinks. The band reformed in 1999 and released the albums What's in a Name (2001) and Injustice, 15 Working Class Songs (2002). The band dissolved again in 2003.
