Awaz, a Pakistani pop band formed in Islamabad in 1992, consisted of Haroon Rashid on vocals, Faakhir Mehmood on keyboards, and Asad Ahmed on lead guitar. The group's breakthrough came with the release of their self-titled debut album Awaz in 1993, which included hit songs like "Janey Kaun Thi Haseena" and "Janeman". The latter became the first Urdu/Hindi pop song to air on MTV Asia in April 1992. Their second studio album, Jadoo Ka Chiragh, released in January 1995, featured hit singles like "Jadoo Ka Chiragh" and "Shawa". The band's third album, Shola, was released in 1996 and included their biggest hit single "Mr. Fraudiay". Despite their success, internal disputes led to the band's disbandment in 2000, with Haroon Rashid and Faakhir Mehmood pursuing solo careers while Asad Ahmed formed Karavan.
