Ran Eliran, born Menachem Leizerovich on December 16, 1934 in Haifa, British Mandate of Palestine, is an Israeli singer. In the late 1950s, he formed the folk-style duo Ran and Nama with Nechama Hendel. The duo gained international recognition after appearing on Ed Sullivan's show celebrating Israel's tenth anniversary in 1958, leading to a U.S. tour. Eliran became an entertainer for the Israel Defense Forces in 1962. One of his notable hits was "Sharm el-Sheikh," composed after the Six-Day War. He appeared in the Broadway musical Don't Step on My Olive Branch in the mid-1970s and has collaborated with artists such as Woody Allen, Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, and Elvis Presley. Eliran received the Israeli Lifetime Achievement Award and studied film and photography at New York University.
