İbrahim Özgür, born in 1910 in Ayazpasa, Istanbul, was a Turkish tango composer and singer. He learned clarinet and saxophone at the Military Academy in Ankara at age 16. After graduation, Özgür returned to Istanbul and formed his own orchestra. In 1931, he embarked on a concert tour lasting seven years, performing in countries such as India, Indonesia, and Singapore. Upon returning to Turkey, Özgür opened a nightclub called Ates Boceklen ("Glow-worm"). His first recording was made in 1938. He was known for his nostalgic tangos, including "Mavi Kelebek", which was inspired by an Indian princess he met. Özgür passed away on February 11, 1959. In 1999, his album Tangolar was posthumously released.
