Friend & Lover were an American folk-singing duo composed of married couple Jim Post and Cathy Conn. The duo's breakthrough came with the release of their hit single "Reach Out of the Darkness", which reached number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in June 1968. The song was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, with notable musicians Ray Stevens and Joe South, and became a political anthem for the protest movement against American politics of the time. It was included as the title track of their debut album in 1968. Their music appeared in various television shows, including Mad Men: Man With a Plan. Jim Post went on to record solo albums for labels such as Flying Fish Records and Fantasy Records after the duo disbanded. Cathy Conn died on 4 July 2018, at the age of 73.
