Xhol Caravan, originally known as Soul Caravan, was formed in Wiesbaden, Germany, in early 1967. The band initially featured cover versions of American soul artists but soon transitioned to original material. Their first studio album, Get in High, was released in December 1967 under the German CBS label, showcasing their early soul sound. In 1968, political disturbances influenced a shift towards a more jazzy, psychedelic sound, leading to a name change to Xhol Caravan. The band's second album, Electrip, released in 1969, fused free jazz and psychedelic rock with satirical humor. After several lineup changes, the band released Hau-RUK in 1970 and their final LP, Motherfuckers GmbH & Co KG, in 1972. The band dissolved in April 1972 due to creative differences with their label.
